West Mifflin had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Mt. Pleasant Vikings by a score of  6-2.
 Jake Martina tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more,  he gave up only four  hits, the fewest he's  had since back in March of 2024.
 On the hitting side, West Mifflin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Derek Tudek, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Mt. Pleasant  fell to 0-1-2.
 Coming up, West Mifflin will challenge Charlotte Country Day School at 7:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Charlotte Country Day School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3  runs per game  this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will square off against North Penn at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Mt. Pleasant's hitters haven't  had much luck over their past three  games, but Saturday's   contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
