Crest is a perfect 10-0 against Ashbrook since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Greenwave at 7:00 p.m. Crest will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Crest got the win against Burns by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ashbrook, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Mecklenburg on Wednesday, sneaking past 23-22. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Greenwave considering their one-run performance the game before.
Brayden Cragnolin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ashbrook is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise. Cragnolin was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, AJ McClain was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ashbrook's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Morgan, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Ashbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Crest's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Ashbrook, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Crest got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Ashbrook by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Greenwave have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
