Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Valley Falls

Valley Falls extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 14-5. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jackson Heights Cobras, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted against the Cobras since March 27, 2023.

Brayson Miller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Collin Kearney, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Damian Cervantez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

As for Jackson Heights, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since May 8, 2025.

On Jackson Heights' side, Teagen Bowhay and Drake Mellies stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bowhay went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Mellies went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Mellies is becoming a predictor of Jackson Heights' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jace Doyle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
