The Rapides Mustangs lost against the Marksville Tigers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Rapides fell to Marksville 52-46. Rapides has struggled against Marksville recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Rapides still got an impressive performance from Christopher Newton, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds. Newton scored a full 43.5% of Rapides' points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jashon Jones, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists.
Rapides' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Marksville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Rapides will face off against LaSalle at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. LaSalle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Rapides is ranked 116th). As for Marksville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Winnfield at 5:00 p.m.
