The New Albany Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Trinity Lutheran Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. New Albany is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, New Albany needed a bit of extra time to put away Seymour. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Owls.
Tyler McMillen tossed a big game, pitching eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaleb Elliott was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Braxton Mayfield also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Trinity Lutheran waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Mustangs 12-2. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly ten runs.
Bode Brooks made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Brooks was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kade Gillaspy, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Huff, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
New Albany's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Trinity Lutheran, their record is now 4-1.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. New Albany has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Trinity Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went New Albany's way against Trinity Lutheran when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as New Albany made off with a 10-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
