Basketball Recap: Hagerstown Comes Up Short

Hagerstown lost against Centerville back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between the Hagerstown Tigers and the Centerville Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Hagerstown Tigers falling 63-44. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Hagerstown got some senior leadership from Landon Lawson and Kaagen Kendall. Lawson went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Kendall went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points. Lawson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaykob Troutwine, who posted eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Vecera, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Vecera has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landyn Keiser, who put up 15 points.

Hagerstown now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hagerstown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-56 loss against Monroe Central on the 21st. As for Centerville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-37 victory against Knightstown on the 21st.
