Baseball Recap: Belfry Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Leslie County, Belfry was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Phelps Hornets 19-2. Considering the Pirates have won four games by more than 12 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Belfry let Eli Caudill and David Michael Hagy run wild. Caudill scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Hagy scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Caudill also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Chase Varney was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Belfry's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Phelps, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belfry will challenge Magoffin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Phelps, they will face off against Pike County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
