It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dwyer had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Martin County Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Haylee Taylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alyssa Dover was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sierra Cook, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Dwyer now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Martin County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-10 record.
Coming up, Dwyer will face off against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Martin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
