After flying high against the Lakota Tech Tatanka last Saturday, the Rapid City Christian Comets came back down to earth. Rapid City Christian was outmatched by Campbell County on the road and fell 60-31. While losing is never fun, Rapid City Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 29th in South Dakota, while Campbell County is ranked fifth in Wyoming).
Kaylie Neary was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with eight assists and four steals for Campbell County. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Patience Smith, who scored 13 points.
Rapid City Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Campbell County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Rapid City Christian will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tea at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tea will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Campbell County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mitchell at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. Mitchell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
