The McComb Tigers will welcome the Greene County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McComb's defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so Greene County's offense will have their work cut out for them.
McComb gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 41-12 victory over South Pike. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Eagles are ranked 133rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

| 09/26/25 vs Hazlehurst | 7 |

| 09/05/25 @ Jefferson County | 3 |
Broderick Peters continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 62 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one TD on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing yards (27).
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something McComb proved: they limited South Pike to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Cameron Hackett for the heroic effort on defense: he. McComb didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.9.
McComb's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. South Pike's QB won't forget Peters anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Hackett was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Greene County came up short against Forrest County Agricultural on Thursday and fell 21-14.
Defeat or not, Greene County got some senior leadership from Cordarius Molten and Gage Stinson. Molten picked up 188 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Stinson threw for 342 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Those 342 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Stinson.
McComb's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.3 points. As for Greene County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. McComb has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 147.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Greene County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
McComb was taken down by Greene County 35-8 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. Thankfully for the Tigers, Santez Campbell (who rushed for 64 yards and two scores, and also picked up 97 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
