Union Academy was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Valor Preparatory Academy on Thursday. The Union Academy Cardinals put the hurt on the Valor Preparatory Academy Owls with a sharp 73-52 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Union Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles McGinnis, who posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals gave McGinnis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Everett Wease, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals.

With the win, Union Academy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-54 loss against Piedmont Community Charter on the 31st.
