Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Breanna Williams of
Skyview (Billings) is the 2023-24 Montana MaxPreps Player of the Year for the second straight season. The 6-foot-2 senior forward led the Falcons to a 23-0 record and Class AA state championship.
For the season, Williams averaged 25.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.2 steals per game. She posted 26 points and 14 rebounds in a 54-36 win over Hellgate (Missoula) in the state title game.
Williams has led Skyview to a 74-5 record over the past three seasons with two state titles and a third-place finish in 2023.
Regarded as a top 50 prospect in the Class of 2024, Williams signed with Maryland in November.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
