The Seymour Eagles will take on the Heritage Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Seymour is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Northview Academy with a sharp 16-2 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Drew Childress was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Seymour: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 9-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Coby Johnson was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten contests. Miller Elijah was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
15 must be Heritage's lucky number: they beat Bryan Station with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Mountaineers blew past the Defenders 15-3. Considering the Mountaineers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Hudson Brown tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Gaven French and Ethan Marcum did most of the damage at the plate: French scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Marcum went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Webb, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Heritage has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Seymour, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Seymour hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Seymour couldn't quite finish off Heritage in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
