The Johnson-Brock Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Anselmo-Merna with a sharp 36-14 victory. Fans of Johnson-Brock have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
It was another big night for Sloan Pelican, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Chase VanWinkle was another key contributor, picking up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Johnson-Brock's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Anselmo-Merna, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Johnson-Brock will face off against Sandhills/Thedford at TBD on Friday. Sandhills/Thedford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Johnson-Brock likes a good challenge. Anselmo-Merna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
