The Epping Blue Devils will face off against the Hinsdale Pacers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Epping is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Epping is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Nute, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Epping was ranked 11th). The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Rams on Friday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.
Logan Abbott made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Abbott was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Puglielli, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Nolan Schmal was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Epping was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hinsdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Fall Mountain, falling 10-0.
Epping pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hinsdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Hinsdale's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Epping has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Hinsdale, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Epping's sizable advantage in that area, the Pacers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Epping got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Hinsdale by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Pacers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
