Baseball Recap: Hauser Finds Playoff Glory Versus Shawe Memorial

Hauser had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers 12-2 on Thursday. Considering the Jets have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

James Oliver and R.J. Foster made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Oliver struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Foster tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Oliver went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Foster went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Oliver has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kameron Blair, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Brady Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hauser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Hauser has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Shawe Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Hauser didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 win against Oldenburg Academy on the 30th. Shawe Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
