The last time they met, Stuart were the 44-6 winner over St. Mary's. This time around? They had no such luck. Stuart were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday, as they fell 16-20 to St. Mary's. The loss was a vexing one since Stuart were expected to win based on their state ranking.
Stuart got a solid performance out of senior Ethan Sattler, who rushed for 43 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. In fact, with 12 tackles Sattler was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Zach Michka, who racked up 9 tackles.
The loss dropped Stuart back to even at 2-2. The victory bumped St. Mary's' record up to 1-3.
Next week Stuart take on Clearwater/Orchard at 7:00 PM. As for St. Mary's, they will face off against Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing. Both teams worked hard to overcome the odds in their previous battles and are not about to give an easy one away.
