Baseball Recap: York Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

While York didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let the Richland Northeast Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Colby Falls made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Falls was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, York got a massive performance out of Landon Ayers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Ayers posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Ethan Ranucci also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

York has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.25 hits in those games compared to only 5.25 in the others. Richland Northeast is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will square off against Dreher at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dreher will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Richland Northeast, they will face off against South Pointe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richland Northeast is facing South Pointe at the right time seeing as South Pointe is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
