West Sierra recap October 29, 2013
Dos Palos's Izzac Suarez rumbled for the longest rushing play in West Sierra this season in his game against Tranquillity last week. Suarez's team beat the Tigers as he sprinted for 95 yards on the play and finished with 252 in all.
Dos Palos scaled the state rankings by moving to 821 from 850 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Shawn Garrick's team was able to move up by topping Tranquillity 40-0.
Suarez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Broncos topped Juan Sandoval's team.
Suarez was a force in the backfield as Dos Palos beat the Tigers.
Anthony Argueta was the best receiver in the league this week as Firebaugh defeated Coalinga. Argueta racked up 4 receptions for 90 yards. Chris Lopez helped Firebaugh's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 36 yards.
The Eagles' Josh Allen and Jordan Martinez led West Sierra in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Allen has thrown for 2,263 yards this season, while Martinez has 34 catches for 658 yards. Mendota's Edgar Segura leads the league in rushing yards with 2,011.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Firebaugh and Avenal face off next week.
As it stands, the Buccaneers are in third, while william magnusson's team is in first.
The Eagles added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Horned Toads, 28-13. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
