The Calhoun Warriors entered their tilt with the Nokomis Redskins with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Calhoun slipped by Nokomis 52-51 on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Calhoun, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Nokomis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Brownback, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Alivia Sabol was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Nokomis, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
Calhoun won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Staunton at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th. Staunton is coming into the game with eight straight wins on the road, meaning Calhoun will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Nokomis, they will square off against Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nokomis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday.
