In what's become a running theme this season, the Burlington Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Genoa-Hugo/Karval 59-24 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Burlington sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Trinitee Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Kiyarra Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Burlington's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burlington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Colorado Springs School at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Colorado Springs School is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bethune at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th.
