Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Lynden recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Lakewood Cougars  take on  Lynden Lions at 4:00  p.m. Lakewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11  runs per game  this season.
On Tuesday, Lakewood was able to grind out a solid  victory over Ferndale, taking the game  12-8. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive  win against them.
 Katie Krueger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and five unearned) runs off   five  hits (and only one walk). Those  hits were  her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Cassidy Wolfe was a standout: she scored two  runs while going 1-for-4. She also put up a  double, which was her first of the season.  Karly Stewart was another key player,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Lakewood  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferndale only managed five  hits.
 Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Lynden). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Oak Harbor on Tuesday, sneaking past  5-3.
 Lynden's record is now 2-4. As for Lakewood,  the  victory  got them back to even at 2-2.
 Lakewood couldn't quite finish off Lynden in their previous matchup  back in May of 2022 and fell  15-13. Can Lakewood avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
