The Scotts Hill Lions will be playing at home against the McNairy Central Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Scotts Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bolivar Central.
Scotts Hill might have lost, but man, Noah Clayton was a machine: he rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Clayton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Another player making a difference was Avion Jackson, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, McNairy Central fell victim to Westview's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Chargers 51-0. Having soared to a lofty 47 points in the game before, McNairy Central couldn't push the score so high this time.
Scotts Hill's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Mt. Pleasant and 8-2 Covington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.8% over those games). As for McNairy Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Scotts Hill took their win against McNairy Central in their previous matchup back in August of 2016 by a conclusive 34-14. Does Scotts Hill have another victory up their sleeve, or will McNairy Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
