East Pennsboro is a perfect 8-0 against Harrisburg since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as East Pennsboro Panthers face off against Harrisburg Cougars at 4:15 p.m. East Pennsboro is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
On Tuesday, East Pennsboro needed a bit of extra time to put away Trinity. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Shamrocks.
Ryan Seibert and Brock Shaffer were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Seibert tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Shaffer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Seibert scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Shaffer went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lucas Martz and Eric Foster Jr. did most of the damage at the plate: Martz scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Foster Jr. went 1-for-4 with one home run. That's the most stolen bases Martz has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovi DeJesus, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Harrisburg made sure to put some runs up on the board against Milton Hershey on Tuesday. Harrisburg put the hurt on Milton Hershey with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Like East Pennsboro, Harrisburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Ronny Daniel De Leon. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Daniel De Leon was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juan Elias, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Janmaury Molina, who scored two runs.
East Pennsboro's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harrisburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Harrisburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Pennsboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Harrisburg, though, as they've only averaged .207. Will they be able to contain East Pennsboro's hitters?
