After a string of three wins, the Haverling Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. Their rough 72-51 defeat to Hornell might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Haverling in their matchups with Hornell: they've now lost five in a row.
Jacob Hagadone and Austin Durand certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hagadone scored 25 points along with six rebounds, while Durand scored 12 points. That was a full 49% of Haverling's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawrence Duncan iv, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Haverling's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Hornell, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Haverling will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Dansville at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Haverling focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Hornell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hornell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Wellsville likes a good challenge.
