Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Janiece Sikander and Keira Hester Lead Westlake to Victory

Westlake won the last time they faced Cedar Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Westlake Thunder came out on top against the Cedar Valley Aviators by a score of 60-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunder.

Leading Westlake to victory were Keira Hester and Janiece Sikander. Hester went 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points, while Sikander posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Sikander is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isley Sauvao, who had eight points.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake and Mountain Ridge will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedar Valley will take on Cottonwood in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
