Beth Tfiloh has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Frances Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Warriors will welcome the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Beth Tfiloh took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Chapelgate Christian Academy as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the game before.
Adam Steinberg was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ben Wahlberg, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Beth Tfiloh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, St. Frances Academy came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.
St. Frances Academy also got a great performance from Anthony Mayfield III as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mayfield III has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, St. Frances Academy let Julian Mercer and Dorian Goldston run wild. Mercer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Goldston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Mercer has posted since back in April of 2024. Jeremiah Yates was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Beth Tfiloh's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Frances Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Beth Tfiloh has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Frances Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Beth Tfiloh took their win against St. Frances Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
