After a string of eight wins, Oswego's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Sandburg Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.
Oswego couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Sandburg a tough time in the first set. The final score came out to 28-30, 25-16, 25-18.
Isaac Izeta and Jian Bacerdo certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Izeta had 13 digs and two assists, while Bacerdo had ten kills and one assist.
Ethan Cleofe was the offensive standout of the match as he had ten digs. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight games. Easton Donausky also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 12-5. As for Sandburg, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2.
Oswego wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Lake Park on the 19th. As for Sandburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Lane Tech on the 19th.
