It was a good run, but the Monacan Chiefs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by Kempsville 80-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monacan has scored all season.
Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Walker Lloyd, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Lloyd continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Bunn, who scored eight points.
Monacan's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-6. As for Kempsville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Monacan will be playing at home against James River Midlothian at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kempsville, Kempsville and Ocean Lakes will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ocean Lakes has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
