The Galena Bears will square off against the Sparta Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Galena's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Sparta has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Galena's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Walnut Grove as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.
Wyatt Doak was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Doak was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cody Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Galena is 5-1 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jaxon Foster was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Galena hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Sparta came up short against Clever on Monday and fell 5-2.
Braylen Luttrull made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Galena is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sparta, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Sparta's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Galena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Sparta, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Galena's hitters?
