The Kent Denver Sun Devils will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Smoky Hill Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Kent Denver humbled Middle Park with a 93-26 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-13.
Kent Denver found their leader in underclassman Caleb Fay, who scored 22 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Gonnella, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Smoky Hill's 20-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 83-69 to Boulder Creek. Smoky Hill found out winning isn't easy when you nail eight fewer threes than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaylan Graham, who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds. Kevin Sylla was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with 7 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Kent Denver and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Smoky Hill, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Kent Denver was dealt a bruising 94-56 loss at the hands of Smoky Hill when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Kent Denver, Rickey Mitchell (who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
