Cloudland had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it ten. They came up short against the University School Buccaneers, falling 23-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 on Monday.
As for University School, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 19.7 runs.
For University School's part, Mason Greene made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Greene was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, University School got several good pitching performances, but Joseph Ayres was perhaps the best, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits were Ayres' first of the season.
Back at the plate, Taj Dharmapal was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. William Vanwagenen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
While Cloudland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
