Softball Recap: Neumann Picks Up 15th Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Neumann had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Everglades City Gators as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Celtics might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sophia Escobar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Escobar was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs.

In other batting news, Neumann let Jesse Camejo and Brooke Rimes run wild. Camejo went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Rimes got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Rimes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Shefsky, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Neumann hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Neumann's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Everglades City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Neumann will take on Seacrest Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Stingrays will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Celtics surely won't give up without a fight. Everglades City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
