Esteban Rodriguez had a dynamite game, rushing for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 114.5 rushing yards per game. Cesar Villa was in the mix too, providing Hanna with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hanna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Joya only rushed for 125.
Another reason for the win was Hanna's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Alik Garza was especially locked on to La Joya's QB and sacked him twice. Dominic Moya was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making 11 total tackles, and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Mission Veterans Memorial slipped by Harlingen 38-37 on Thursday.
Hanna better keep an eye on Roman Reyna. He was instrumental in Mission Veterans Memorial's win, rushing for 160 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 249 yards and one touchdown. Those 160 rushing yards gave Reyna a new career-high. Benjamin Martinez was another key player, picking up 138 receiving yards.
Mission Veterans Memorial's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Hanna, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
