The Wheeler Eagles were the 44-37 winner over the Mantachie Mustangs when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wheeler took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mantachie on Monday. Wheeler has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wheeler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marley Garrett, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Aubree James, who scored two points.
Wheeler has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Mantachie, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Wheeler is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Jumpertown at 4:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Mantachie, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Houston at 6:00 p.m.
