The Excel Christian Academy Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Potter's House Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter's House Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Excel Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.
Excel Christian Academy is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since February 17, 2024 on Monday. They blew past Winter Haven Christian, posting a 51-10 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Excel Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Analise DeJesus, who posted 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Berbick, who earned 14 points along with five boards and four steals.
Excel Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 19 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Potter's House Christian came up short against Southeastern Prep Academy on Tuesday and fell 53-42.
Excel Christian Academy will have to contain Alanna Tatum as she made an impact in Potter's House Christian's last game. She went 11 for 22 to rack up 30 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Tatum a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tacarri Neal, who had six points and 13 rebounds.
Potter's House Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Excel Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Excel Christian Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Potter's House Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
