The Falls Lake Firebirds will face off against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cedar Ridge will be up against a hot Falls Lake squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Firebirds blew past Franklin Academy 14-3 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Firebirds have won by exactly 11 runs.
Wynterlee Glenn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She also put up four hits, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Jolie Sensenig was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-6. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Khole Massengill, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Falls Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 14-4 win.
Kimber Shambley and Brittani Goddard did most of the damage at the plate: Shambley went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Goddard went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Remaly, who scored three runs and stole two bases.
Falls Lake's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Cedar Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Everything went Falls Lake's way against Cedar Ridge when the teams last played back in March, as Falls Lake made off with a 12-6 victory. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Red Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
