Delaware Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julia Pearch led the charge by putting up ten points in addition to six steals and five assists. Pearch continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Addy Beard was another key player, scoring 13 points along with six boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, Millersport won against Liberty Christian Academy on Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Millersport came out on top against Patriot Prep Academy by a score of 54-45. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lakers.
Millersport's win came from a few key players Delaware Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emma Raver, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Millersport's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 5-2 (and 4-12 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Schilling, who posted ten points and eight steals.
Millersport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.
Delaware Christian's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.7 points over those games. As for Millersport, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Delaware Christian has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Millersport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Delaware Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Millersport in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 45-34. Will Delaware Christian repeat their success, or does Millersport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
