After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arroyo Grande, the Mission College Prep Royals were happy to have found some success on Friday. They secured a 49-44 W over San Luis Obispo. For Mission College Prep, this counts as revenge for the 54-53 loss San Luis Obispo walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Despite the loss, San Luis Obispo still got an impressive performance from Joshua Chaves, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cyrus Isaacs, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Mission College Prep's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16. As for San Luis Obispo, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.
Mission College Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Independence at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for San Luis Obispo, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Joseph at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Joseph has ten straight wins, San Luis Obispo has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
