Meyersdale has gone 9-1 against Berlin Brothersvalley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Red Raiders will take on the Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. Meyersdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Meyersdale came up short against Everett and fell 10-5.
Amber Long made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Karleigh Beal was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Berlin Brothersvalley waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mountaineers have posted since May 16, 2024.
Not much got past Elena Ritchey, who gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Chestnut Ridge off the board. Ritchey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Elsie Barna was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
Berlin Brothersvalley's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Meyersdale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Meyersdale hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Berlin Brothersvalley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Meyersdale might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Berlin Brothersvalley when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
