After a string of five wins, the Rocky Mountain Lobos's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 67-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mullen. Rocky Mountain was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mullen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Sara Chicco and Kenna Wagner certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Chicco scored 21 points, while Wagner scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Wagner hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Meela Delap, who scored six points.
Leading Mullen to victory were Makenzie Jones and Allison Schwertner. Jones scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while Schwertner scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ryker Thomas, who scored eight points.
Rocky Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Mullen, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain will take on Monarch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monarch has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Mullen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Overland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Overland is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
