Softball Recap: Cheney Comes Up Short

Cheney was the 10-6 winner over Ferris when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Blackhawks took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saxons on Tuesday. Even though they lost, the Blackhawks' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Alyssa Marlow was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Bella Huan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Cheney and nudges their season record down to 6-12. As for Ferris, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheney will venture away from home to take on Lewis & Clark at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blackhawks are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Ferris, they will head out to square off against Gonzaga Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bullpups have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.5 runs per game on average), something the Saxons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
