Softball Recap: Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Victorious

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Centerville Tornadoes a 15-0 shutout. Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Isabel Waltner looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avary Thomas was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Remington Weier, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Centerville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy will welcome McCook Central/Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centerville, they will square off against Lennox at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
