The Oak Hill Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madison-Grant took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oak Hill, who comes in off a win.
Oak Hill scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 71-45 margin over Alexandria-Monroe. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Oak Hill has posted yet this season.
Oak Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Trexler led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty Fagan, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Madison-Grant's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Frankton by a score of 52-50. While losing is never fun, Madison-Grant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Frankton is ranked 154th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Teagan Yeagy, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Hull, who scored 13 points.
Madison-Grant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Oak Hill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Madison-Grant, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Oak Hill have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 46.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've drained 41.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Oak Hill strolled past Madison-Grant when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 65-46. Will Oak Hill repeat their success, or does Madison-Grant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
