The Avoyelles Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pickering Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Pickering took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Avoyelles, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Avoyelles never let their opponents score. They put the hurt on Rosepine with a sharp 22-0 win. The victory was just what Avoyelles needed coming off of a 50-8 loss in their prior game.
Avoyelles can attribute much of their success to Decareyn Sampson, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Pickering, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a serious blow against South Beauregard last Thursday, falling 49-0.
Avoyelles' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for Pickering, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Avoyelles against Pickering in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 88-6 win. Will Avoyelles repeat their success, or does Pickering have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
