The Robinson Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Hendrickson Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Robinson will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Robinson's win against University wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Trojans 7-5. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by exactly two runs.
Raelynn Van Zee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Peyton Richards was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hendrickson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Elgin on Tuesday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Payton Shroyer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hadlee Woodard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Hendrickson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.
Hendrickson's record is now 15-2. As for Robinson, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Robinson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Hendrickson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Robinson skirted past Hendrickson 6-4 in their previous meeting on Saturday. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
