Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Creighton Prep Junior Jays

Elkhorn South is 0-4 against Creighton Prep since December of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Elkhorn South Storm will head out on the road to square off against the Creighton Prep Junior Jays at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Elkhorn South is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They fell 77-70 to Millard North. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (56), the Storm still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South got top-tier performance from Cooper Mroczek, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards. The matchup was Mroczek's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Davis Eickman, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Creighton Prep on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Norfolk out of the water with an 85-37 final score. The Junior Jays pushed the score to 67-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had no chance of recovering from.

Elkhorn South better keep an eye on Trinell Parker. He was instrumental in Creighton Prep's win, going 11 for 14 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. What's more, Parker also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Conner Peters was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

The win made it two in a row for Creighton Prep and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Elkhorn South, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Elkhorn South came up short against Creighton Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, falling 62-50. Can Elkhorn South avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
