Basketball Recap: Eau Claire Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Eau Claire unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets 65-19. The contest marked the Shamrocks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lower Richland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jhnai Sumter out in front who went 6 for 8 on her way to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Sumter's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chi?Nya Isaac, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

Eau Claire's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Lower Richland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Eau Claire won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kailen Parks and Destinee Tiller. As for Lower Richland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Darlington at 6:00 p.m. Lower Richland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Darlington likes a good challenge.
