After a string of four wins, the Wapahani Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Delta by a score of 42-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Wapahani has suffered yet this season.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Megan Luce, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Luce has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Emily Luce was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Delta found their leader in underclassman Jillian Barr, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Barr is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paizley Cool, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Wapahani's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Delta, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Wapahani's road trip will continue as they head out to face Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Monroe Central is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Delta will take on Yorktown at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Yorktown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
