Dunnellon has gone 8-2 against Citrus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dunnellon took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Belleview as they made off with an 11-3 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gavin Whitehead was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Forest Clifton was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
Dunnellon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Citrus came out on top against Lecanto on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Hurricanes walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Panthers. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Landon Sanders made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wade Berlin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Czerwinski, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Dunnellon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Citrus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Dunnellon skirted past Citrus 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
